The Observer and the Observed

The Feeling of Watching
It often feels like there is someone inside, watching everything.
Observing thoughts.
Noticing emotions.
Looking out through the eyes at the world.
A quiet witness behind the experience.
This sense is so natural that we rarely question it.
---
A Subtle Division
The moment you say, βI am aware of this thought,β
a division appears.
There is the βIβ β the observer.
And the thought β the observed.
It seems clear.
Almost obvious.
But is it really two?
---
Looking More Closely
Right now, notice a thought.
Any thought.
Now look for the observer of that thought.
Where is it?
Is it a location?
A shape?
A separate presence?
Or is it just another idea appearing in the same field?
---
The Loop
The observer often turns out to be another thought.
A subtler one.
A quieter one.
βI am the one who is aware.β
But that too can be noticed.
Which means it is also part of what is being observed.
And so the division begins to collapse.
---
No Center to Stand On
Without the observer,
there is no fixed center watching from a distance.
There is just experience happening:
sound, sensation, thought, awareness β all at once.
Not divided.
Not layered.
Not owned.
---
The Simplicity That Remains
When the separation fades,
nothing mystical appears.
Just what was already here β
without the extra layer of βsomeone experiencing it.β
Life is no longer something you watch.
It is something that is simply happening.
